Boy, 11, 'shot' father's fiancee
WAMPUM, Pennsylvania: An 11-year-old boy allegedly shot his father's pregnant girlfriend in the back of the head while she was lying in bed in their western Pennsylvania farmhouse, then got on the school bus and went to school.
Jordan Brown was charged at the weekend as an adult in the shooting death of 26-year-old Kenzie Marie Houk, who was eight months pregnant, Lawrence County District Attorney John Bongivengo said.
Ms Houk's family and friends said she had experienced problems with the boy in the past.
"There was an issue with jealousy. He told my son stuff," said Ms Houk's brother-in-law, Jason Kraner. "He actually told my son that he wanted to do that to her."
Jordan, who initially sent the police on a false investigation by claiming he had seen a black truck on the property, was charged with criminal homicide and criminal homicide of an unborn child. He is being held in the county jail.

He was picked up from school by state police, who found Ms Houk's body after her four-year-old daughter told tree-cutters on the property she thought her mother was dead.
Her seven-year-old sister implicated the boy in an interview with police.
"She didn't actually eyewitness the shooting. She saw him with what she believed to be a shotgun and heard a loud bang," Mr Bongivengo said, adding that the weapon, a "youth model" 20-gauge shotgun, was found in what police believed was the boy's bedroom. The shotgun is designed for children and such weapons do not have to be registered.
Jordan's lawyer said he wanted to see evidence that the gun belonged to him, and was planning to file a motion to have the case moved to juvenile court.
He said the boy's father, Christopher Brown, was "in a state of actual shock and disbelief".
Police said they had no motive.
"An 11-year-old kid - what would give him the motive to shoot someone?" said Ms Houk's father, Jack. "Maybe he was just jealous."
He said Jordan had been raised by his father and grandmother. Ms Houk and Jordan's father had been together since May last year and had got engaged at Christmas.
Jack Houk said Jordan and his father used to practise shooting behind their farmhouse, and hunted together.
